  • You can't disable the Pokki icon when you use this software.

For the Android and the iOS, Instagram has developed an almost cult-like fan following, and only until recently has it had any popularity for the Desktop. Now Windows has a desktop app that lets the fans of this site enjoy Instagram through the app. With Pixsta, it runs through Pokki, and you will see the logo for Instagram next to your task bar. When you click on the icon, the app will pop up.

Learn What's Popular

Through this application, you can learn what's popular almost right away, and you will view your own photos. You can also check out the feed from the different users that you have followed. Because of this app, you can learn what's popular almost right away, and when signing into an Instagram account, the setup shows the various photos and the feeds of the users that you have chosen to follow.

Attractive Interface

Pixsta has a highly attractive interface, and while it'd be great if you could skip having Pokki on your system, it's still okay. The one thing that does feel unnecessary is having two separate icons on your desktop and taking up space. Until Instagram decides to make one themselves, Pixsta will remain one of the most useful apps that you can have for accessing Instagram through the desktop. You will have access to Instagram much easier, and you can take full advantage of checking the photos without ever having to pick up your phone.

Pixsta: What to Know

Pixsta had previously been known as Instagrille, but they swapped out the name for something that sounds a little more cheerful. It also opts out of the traditional Windows chrome look and hands you something that has a more gray appearance with drop-shadows that look almost exactly as it should with the Mac. In fact, if you didn't know any better, you'd swear this was a program designed for the Mac. Pixsta doesn't necessarily feel like a Windows app, but it accomplishes the same goals as you might expect. Because it doesn't have the window borders, the images take first precedence. You can also choose to resize the windows to help with fitting in more images, and you can toggle between the linear layout and the tile-based layout.

What's nice about Pixsta is how it remains one of the quick and responsive choices. You can upload photos almost instantly, and you have access to a powerful app from the desktop. For those with a 21-inch monitor, you take everything that made Instagram great and make it twice as good as what it was before. However, keep in mind that you should have a connection that is fast enough, or may suffer from the occasional stutter.
